Job Summary:

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for all aspects of information technology management with an emphasis on the development and implementation of short and long range technology plans and controls, optimizing system utilization, information security, Clinical Informatics, supervision of IT staff and vendors, budget preparation and management, and development of guidelines, standards and procedures.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:    

Oversees the IT strategic Plan on an annual basis ensuring its coherence with strategic plan of the facility.

Maintains and implements information technology and telecommunications systems consistent with achieving goals of the organization as determined by leadership.

Facilitates the development, design and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages.

Maintains security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines and equipment.

Keeps the facility in compliance with Meaningful Use of the Electronic Health Record as determined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

Produces required reporting of data both internally and externally.

Develops, reviews, certifies and implements all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.

Remains competent and abreast of leading technologies in the industry.

Assesses new computing technologies and the feasibility of system enhancements to determine potential value for the facility.

Supervises the ordering, acquisition, inventory and disposition of hardware and software.

Provides quality and timely support and training to employees concerning hardware and software needs.

Oversees evaluation of the facilities and hardware/software and new online computer and telecommunications systems.

Performs or supervises functions of programmer, systems analyst, network administration, systems engineer and other disciplines necessary to facilitate the IT requirements of the organization.

Maintains the infrastructure to support and guide the facility in information technology efforts.  Identifies how information will be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the infrastructure.

Maintain the integrity and continual operation of the network including the inter- and intra- building wireless networks.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field; Masters preferred. 
  • Experience in Cerner and CPSI preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an Information Technology Director role.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot and manage a variety of computer hardware and software.
  • Experience with telecommunication systems.
  • Experience with operating systems, networks, integration, interfaces and file transfer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
